He has recently reviewed his pictorial development in a catalogue subtitled Del fruit a /’instrument [From fruit to instrument] as well as a retrospective in Santa Margalida (August 2008). His themes focus on still life and musical instruments, treated from a background of colourist explosion and always using three basic elements: ink, water and acrylic paints. Guillem Crespi’s career started around 1981, painting commissioned portraits and pictures in the open air at the port of Pollenga. He attended drawing and painting classes at Pollenga art school and, as from 1995, has regularly exhibited his work in Mallorca and Madrid, as well as taking part in collective exhibitions that have firmly placed him within transnational art: Acea (Barcelona, 1999, 2000 and 2001), Arte e Multimedia (Cintra, Portugal, 1999), International Fair (Bolo¬ gna, Italy, 2000), Decor-Expo/Art (New York, 2001), etc. He has won several awards, such as second prize for still life / interiors at the 4th International Fair of Plastic Arts ACEA, in Barcelona in 1999; the special Artitude. Art Contemporain jury prize for the quality and originality of his work in Paris, France; first prize for contemporary watercolours in Barce¬ lona; the prize as best foreign artist at the 28th Salon du Val d’Or, Espace des Chaumes Meillant, France, all of these in 2000; and, recently, first prize at the 6th Aina Maria Lliteras International Creative Art Competition (2008). His last three individual exhibitions have been: Somiantjoguines [Dreaming of toys], at the Fran Reus gallery (2004); Joes sobre paper [Games on paper], at Son Floriana, Cala Bona (2007) and Trencant colors [Breaking colours], also at the Fran Reus gallery (2007).
