Antoni Ferragut is a sculptor. Although he trained as a forestry expert, he shares his professional life with his artistic career. In 1972 he worked with Xavier Corbero’s Centre of Artistic Activities and Experiences (The CAIAC) in Esplugues de Llobregat (Barcelona) and designed jewellery. In 1975 he devoted his creative talent to work solely as a sculptor. He has been a finalist and has won numerous awards in various events on the island of Mallorca. He has undertaken individual exhibitions in the Pelaires Gallery (1982 and 1987) and has held a retrospective exhibition (2008) in the Casal Solleric of Palma City Council. He has also participated in several group exhibitions in Madrid, Palma, Pollenga, Manacor, Ibiza, Menorca, Barcelona and Zaragoza, among others. He has made vari¬ ous large scale works which are located in several public and private areas in Mallorca: in Palma, Calvia and in Sant Lloreng. His work, which lies within the realm of Abstract Expressionism, has been compiled in different series under the titles of: Winds, Fer-rotestas, Animals in Action, Homage to Architecture and Shy Birds, which are related to different materials: perspex, bronze, wood, cast iron, industrial iron and finally Corten steel, the material he is currently using.
